Facebook Photo Wallpaper of the Day: Sure, plenty of people use Facebook photos as their desktop wallpapers, but German art students Joern Roeder and Jonathan Pirnay have taken it to a whole new level.
Their project, fbFaces, gathered 100,000 Facebook profile pics and used them to wallpaper an entire room.
From the artists' statement:
fbFaces is an attempt to visualize the incredible amount of data and images that we are daily overwhelmed by, so that we can neither realize our own selectivity nor consider the amount of data perceived.
The wallpaper transforms the room itself into a flood of information. It surrounds us, cannot be estimated from distance; details can only be caught through determined selection. But then they vanish again – in a cloud of information.
Good thing the installation isn't in a bedroom, because there's no way anyone's getting to sleep with that many strangers staring at them.
More photos of the fbFaces wallpaper after the jump.
