McCoys - Artist Lecture

The McCoys' presentation was interesting in a few ways, mostly in the way they talked about and approach their work. It's interesting to hear they way they use musical notation vocabulary to discuss pacing and rhythm of their work. They defined the different speeds of the different elements of their work as "different time signatures". As well as discussing the element of focusing on "something that's happening in that moment" to help critique, deconstruct, and reconstruct their pieces.

They seem to place a lot of importance on deconstruction to distill to the core of the work. Starting with the idea of using models as stand-in, and then as subject, and stripping away at the work to discover "where is the soul of the piece", and "what can survive and still be the piece"?

They referenced the music of Bradford Reed.
