Alerting Infrastructure!
Sent to you by Dana via Google Reader:
Alerting Infrastructure! by Jonah Brucker-Cohen is a physical hit counter that translates hits to the web site of an organization into interior damage of the physical building that web site or organization represents. The focus of the piece is to amplify the concern that physical spaces are slowly losing ground to their virtual counterparts. The amount of structural damage to the building directly correlates to the amount of exposure and attention the web site gets, thus exposing the physical structure's temporal existence.

Kinect for Windows of the Day
Sent to you by Dana via Google Reader:
Kinect for Windows of the Day: Microsoft has big plans for Kinect for Windows, which launches on February 1st, and not all of them revolve around games.
In a new blog post, the company said the new Kinect will "enhance how data is captured and accessed within intelligent systems across manufacturing, retail and many more industries," and said that they're building the platform in a way that will let other companies integrate it into their products.
In the real world, that means we could see the Kinect in hospitals, as a virtual try-on station at clothing retailers, as a training device or a robot controller in factories, and as a classroom teaching tool.
The new Kinect will be a little more expensive, at $249, because it's not subsidized by game sales like the Xbox version, but the price point is still low enough that we should be seeing plenty of Kinect units in use outside the living room.

Upgraded Childhood of the Day
Sent to you by Dana via Google Reader:
Upgraded Childhood of the Day: Artist Yayoi Kusama made a whole bunch of dreams come true for kids in Australia by letting them run wild with stickers inside her "domestic installation" at the Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane.
Last month, the museum's youngest visitors were invited to give Kusama's white space a colorful makeover, and they happily obliged.
The result — dubbed The Obliteration Room — is currently on display through March 12th as part of the artist's Look Now, See Forever exhibition.
